Saturday's high temperature in Norfolk was 50 degrees. That is a record, the National Weather Service says. It's the lowest maximum temperature recorded on an Oct. 17 in Norfolk - ever.

The records go back to 1874, said Brian Hurley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Wakefield.

Previously, the lowest maximum temperature on Oct. 17 was 55 degrees, set in 1991.

"We're looking at a mid-November air mass," Hurley said of the cold air around Hampton Roads.

If you were cold on Saturday it could have been worse: central Pennsylvania is dealing with a snowstorm.

Sunday's forecast for Hampton Roads calls for highs in the low-50s. Temperatures should reach 60 on Monday, then 70 or higher by Tuesday, Hurley said.
