Usually I refrain from this; but, it is looking pretty obvious.

This is strictly my opinion and please don't count on it for more than that.

So, I think there is an excellent chance west coast of FL will be hit by a major cane.

All ingredients are there:

1)  A due north track over the Cat5 generator and Loop Current that hasn't been touched in a year.  In fact, both have been heating up the last few days.
2)  An excellent north quadrant jet that is enhancing a poleward outflow channel.
3)  Anti-cyclone to the SE that is also supporting the UL outflow channel.
4)  All models have been forecasting a building Ridge in the west CONUS and at the same time an eroding Bermuda High by the time Ida gets in the GOM for at least the last 3 days.
The sharp right hand turn is nearly a given.
5)  A TC that tracks due north is nearly immune to weakening from shear due to the enhanced Coriolis effect.

In fact, I see Ida as ramping up in the next 48 to 72 hours as possibly one of the fastest RI's on record in the Atlantic basin.

I hope I am wrong.
