Snow as far east as Mobile ...

I always love reading the NWS discussions along the Gulf coast when snow is possible. Snow along the Gulf coast is such a distinct timing issue, the prediction of the amount is always a crapshoot.
The fact that its December 3, and we are talking significant snow event along the Gulf coast is more astonishing to me. The earliest record I could find for Mobile ever was December 11. That was over 100 years ago.
I think this winter is going to be one of the coldest the Gulf region has seen.
El Nino winter 1996 - Mobile records 3-6 inches on December 18, 1996. Very cold winter into 1997, lots of wet cold fronts that year.
Think this is going to be that kind of winter. |
