Houton we have a problem!!
A few months ago I was called out to repair a sink hole in Weston. After digging down only 5 ft we hit water, we along with the city inspectors thought there may have been a broken water line somewhere. Turns out that was the water table, we back filled it compacted & re paved. This is in the middle of a large shopping center parking lot in the middle of the city. Sea level rise is taking the land & if I lived in western areas of south Florida that were built on swamps I would sell my home as soon as the market goes back up. The ocean waters will take the path of least resistance & that is the everglades, keys & low lying areas of S Fla. Those homes will start to have water bubbling up at high tides within 50 years but by then it will be too late & those homes will be worthless as well as the ones in most of the keys. In fact I will go as far as to say the next major hurricane coming in from the S.E into Keys & south Fla ocean will inundate all inland areas of S Fla, it will be a Katrina scene.
