I agree with Jim. The absence of evidence isn't the evidence of absence.
Underwater earthquakes occur in the Bay of Campeche and extreme southwestern Gulf of Mexico. One of these quakes could plausibly lead to a tsunami. Can you imagine a tsunami rushing through southern Louisiana and Mississippi?
I think the odds are very low. The average occurrence is probably in the hundreds of years, if not thousands.
Then again, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma were each considered "once in 100 years storms". Yet they all occurred within 3 months of each other.
Just as in life, the more I learn, the more I learn I don't know a thing.
