Saw a graph which talked about Haitian earthquakes in the future which if correctly located (in waters just offshore) might concievably set off a tsunami headed toward Fl and the SE US Coast, and also even entering the eastern Gulf with effects as far west as New Orleans. Had always pretty much considered the GOM as immune to tsunamis, but that might not be the case. And as for Fl, you usually hear about the Canary Islands landslide scenario, but a Haitian earthquake offshore might provide another tsunami possibility. |
