Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo canceled ...

The oil spill has been able to what no hurricane ever could when it comes to the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo (the largest saltwater fishing tournament in the United States).
It has caused its cancelation this year, for the first time since 1929, when it began.
You can schedule around a hurricane, but you can't escape oil. The Gulf waters are closed in all directions from the Alabama coastline for at least 250 miles, and the state waters are also closed.
The seafood industry, which was just recently off life support, since Ivan, Dennis, and Katrina, in this area, is now in a permanent coma.
I don't know that it will recover.
Think it's limited to seafood. With no need for ships and accessibility hampered or prohibited, ship builders are seeing no orders and layoffs are happening in mass droves.
The beaches are now blackened up to the natural tidelines, with pools of oil sitting around. The smell is bad when the south winds blow in.
