Most intense tropical cyclone on record ?

Everyone knows it was Typhoon Tip, right?  Wrong - in 2010 it was changed to Typhoon Olivia with her winds of 253 mph. http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/E1.html

There's a lot of new/revised data in the FAQs  including (unfortunately it was needed
) how oil slicks and hurricanes affect each other http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/C8.html

They're always changing - whether it's looking back at past storms or improving for the future - should be forecasting tracks for 7 days out before you know it !
