So far from NHC's ATCF (Automated Tropical Cyclone Forecasting) system:
30 knots 1005 mb Tropical Depression
But if it is to be Alex, sometimes it takes them a little bit to name it. But they might just go with that for now and call the tropical storm force estimated by SFMR to be rain contaminated. That was the 2PM info, so the NHC might still name it and just put it in the ATCF system in the next update at 8PM, but release an advisory immediately. (no advisory yet) Advisories are offset from updates in the ATCF system by 3 hours. ATCF update times: 2AM, 8AM, 2PM, 8PM EDT. Normal NHC advisory times: 5AM, 11AM, 5PM, 11PM EDT. |
