Alex, act 2 ...

The reds are already blossoming around the center of Alex, and he is barely 30 miles offshore, with part of his center still on shore.

I don't think the models look any different than they did a day ago.

It would stand out to me if they swung a hard right.  That hasn't happened.

The bigger, more unnerving thing, that we should be considering, is that this storm was just shy of hurricane status in roughly 150 miles of water, that was surrounded by land, that holds some dry air.  He is now going to be over no less than twice that amount of water, with no land interaction, a solid upper atmosphere, and hot water.

That stands out to me.  Jim is right.  A major is very much a possibility, and I foresee a Cat 3 hurricane, with winds of 120 mph bearing down on someone.

Now where?  Good question.  Alex has moved slow enough that I fear the trough will catch him.  But, he has also gone far enough west at a low attitude that I think the hard swing north and then east will happen once the storm is on land.  I think anyone from Brownsville, TX, to Morgan City, LA, needs to pay attention to this system.

Buckle up, guys, we ALL should watch this one.
