A strong cold front,''for this time of year'' is forcasted to stall about 50-100 miles or so north of the northern GC,by this coming thursday or possibly Fri ''.If,''and I believe that is a big if,because of the time of year, and the fact that there will be a large tropical system somewhere in the western Gulf, which will likely cause warm moist air to surge northward against the front'' this front does stall in the area mentionend, the winds north of the front will shift to a northwest direction,''at least breifly anyway.'' Unfortunately for areas south of this forcasted front the winds will remain from a southerly direction. I would look for those winds to become rather stiff as a steep pressure gradient develops due to the high pressure north of the front and the strong tropical system in the Gulf south of the front. Even if Alex does not streagthen considerablely beyond current status, and moves into south Texas by the WED-THURS timeframe I would still look for a large amount of oil to be pushed northward to the coast during the course of the week.
