Foecasted Landfall Air Conditions

So, if landfall occurs in the morning, a convection cap (Boundary Layer Inversion) will be in place and will serve to moderate the intensity of Alex as it makes landfall.

If landfall is in late afternoon, the cap could break, depending on cloud cover during the day and possible boundary layer air mixing.  That could keep Alex strong at landfall.

Here is a forecasted skew-t from NAM showing a well placed cap on shore just ahead of the core a few hours ahead of landfall.
