Celia (1970) - small, intensified just off the coast of Corpus in unfavorable conditions, marked by powerful downbursts in the rear left quad initially thought to be tornados. A real freak that left 80% of structures in the narrow but splintered strike zone damaged or destroyed. Bizarre destruction pattern subject of several studies for defying "the rules." Didn't even rain in Victoria; 90 mi S, picked up my cousin's home and dropped it back down. |
