I think they used purely radar. I see all the way near the LA/MS border 44 knots at 11,000 feet, but Weather Underground has not had tracks around the center so that I can easily see radar data from the center. We'll know in 20 minutes or less in the next TWO what their latest changing thoughts are this hour.

I think it is a depression since there is no minimum requirement for wind speeds and it seems organized enough. As for a TS, not sure what the radar estimates are at the center. I seriously doubt they will name it though.
