96L Poised to Enter Gulf of Mexico---Hard not to envision an effect on oil containment operations

This system is now stradling the northern Yucatan penninsula and much of the convection associated with it should be entering the Gulf later today. The system should gain more latitude than Alex and is forecast to impact the upper Texas Coast. It will almost assuredly track to the west of the BP Deepwater Horizon giving the rig some of its worst squalls and winds. Very interesting to see what kind of call is made at the rig site.
