| I think it will be one of those far-flung entities in which the center of whatever develops stays well S of us but we get much rain - and flooding. You are correct - people are complacent and I find myself horrified about the duality of thought post-Ike. First, many think it was "the big one" and comparable to Katrina, which is absurd, and second, the same folks don't seem to watch the tropics or remain in a state of readiness. People who have lived here for years, decades, unaware of the possibilities because we have been incredibly fortunate and they live in ignorant bliss. Until we get a NWS Rita 175mph in metro Houston doomsday forecast and all evac hell breaks loose. |
