I think it needs to be tropical first

in my very "non-professional" opinion, so much like NHC wouldn't issue advisories on a Nor'Easter, they wouldn't on this???
here's StormW's take on it: http://www.wunderground.com/blog/StormW/show.html
"Current Cyclone Phase Evolution diagrams indicate the area has not transitioned to warm core yet. The system has been nearly stationary, after moving SSW over the past few days. Indications are, based on the current forecast steering layers maps, the area should begin to move northward during the next 24 hours, to possibly NNE. Based on forecast steering, this low should move in near the NJ area, and continue NNE through New England during the next 24-36 hours.
Given that the low has failed to achieve a warm core, the window is closing for any transition to become subtropical, prior to moving inland." |
