Using Funktop for this look (day-night lighting transfer on visible a little murky right now), but on both pics you can see what looks like a clear wind-up (which wasn't visible before) right around the LLC on the southerly side of the convection. I think the ULL has pulled a little farther away, but also as Doug as said a couple of times, perhaps the Gulf Stream is responsbile too. Also think the increase in forward speed represents the strengthening of the High over the SE which could also lead to improved conditions in the Gulf. I look for this to be a stronger tropical storm than anticipated as it crosses the upper keys-S Fl and on into the SE GOM.
