I think that in the long term conditions are quite a bit more favorable for the more distant wave (marked 20%). I look for this system to become a strong tropical storm (at least) while still in the open Atlantic. The closer system is probably in a climatologically more favored area (entering Lesser Antilles) and it is starting to get its act together (somewhat). But I think it will be encountering less than ideal (although not totally hostile conditions) in the Carribean. So it may be on the development path, but I think it will be something of a struggle. However, the more distant wave already seems better organized than the first, and will have a large swath of ocean to traverse where conditions are more favorable than what is available for the first. |
