Couple things out of the ordinary.
1) Theta-e infeed will not be from the ITCZ, but actually over the CONUS and south into the LLC. This is very possible since the extreme heat has made the air a powder keg over the south CONUS.
2) A shear axis to the south could fire deep convection which in turn would lead to hot-tower development which allows a system to transistion from a cold-core to warm-core due to rapid upper-tropospheric latent heating.
I was reading some papers from Dr. Montgomery at NRL last night and this is exactly the type of thing he is looking for in his PREDICT project.
I wonder if they will fly the GV earlier than the scheduled Aug. 15 start?
