Had to laugh when (after my previous post) I read this news item from Tallahassee online news ... http://www.tallahassee.com/article/20100811/BREAKINGNEWS/100811010/Business-as-usual-on-Alligator-Point-despite-stormy-weather
Business as usual on Alligator Point despite stormy weather

The sky may be overcast, the wind whipping and the waves crashing, but that isn't deterring folks from enjoying the splendors of Alligator Point today, as bands from a tropical depression pass through the area.
"I'm not going to worry until it starts raining," said Florida State University Professor Judy Miller, who came to enjoy the last few days of summer before classes resume.
At 10:50 a.m., the sun was poking through the overcast sky, offering a bit of relief from recent soaring temperatures.
William Diaz said when he came down to go fishing this morning, he wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was.
"I've never seen waves like this here in the 30 years I've been coming down," said Diaz, who shore fishes there most weekends. He usually fishes from the water but decided not to this time after feeling the strong currents tugging as his legs.
Despite the weather, he said he'll stay until the end of the day because he enjoys the fishing.
