We had some people die here in the Tampa Bay area due to rip currents that may have been enhanced by TD5 / its remnants. Fresh water flooding from tropical storms can be deadly even in the US. Tornadoes from any tropical entity could be deadly.

I remember when Frances came through as only a moderate tropical storm in my area, it knocked half a tree down in the neighborhood next to mine. Luckily the half that fell was over a road. Had the other half fallen it would have crushed an entire house.

Falling trees, traffic accidents due to people not taking a storm seriously, someone using a generator in an enclosed space, can all result in serious injuries or death.

I think the weaker storms could even at times result in greater deaths due to complacency. Look at how few deaths there were from Andrew compared to a tropical storm like Allison for example. You would think a lot more people would have died during Andrew, but thankfully a lot of people took that storm seriously. Compared to weaker storms that some do not take seriously or are simply caught off guard by, you have a lot more people who are around to be seriously injured or killed since they did not evacuate out of the area.
