The reasons for non development way out in the Atlantic seem to be the Saharan Air Layer and stable air based on what I have heard a lot, including a local report on the news yesterday from our local NWS. All of which is looking better for development.

The water temps out there are extremely warm compared to average:
 I don't know if they are still record breaking like they were earlier this year, but they are plenty warm enough for a hurricane as long as the atmosphere cooperates. The heat content out there will never be like what we see in the Carib, but right now it is probably as high or nearly as high as anything we have ever seen.
As soon as the atmosphere gets a little more conducive, which is happening, it's going to be like an assembly line off Africa, and the product is going to be hurricanes. |
