Long Island Railroad to suspend train service ref. Hurricane Earl

The long Island Railroad reports it will suspend train service from Speonk which is located on the middle of Long Island to Montauk  Point begining Thursday night through Saturday morning.
Still,  Long Island officials decided no evacuation orders were necessary yet as of Thursday afternoon, including on Fire Island, and emergency shelters were put on standby but not opened.

Generally, no one seems too concerned here on eastern Long Island. No mad rush on hardware or grocery stores yet. My honest opinion is, from what I have seen in the past 50 years is  when hurricanes past Cape Hatteras, they tend to strike eastern Long Island. I hope this is not the case on this holiday weekend, as nobody is really taking this major storm seriously. At least I am prepared.

Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it. Quote, George Santayana, Philosopher, Poet 1862-1952.
