Great video; thank you.
That surf is BIG and LETHAL.
Photography doesn't do justice to turbulent ocean surf; especially on the Mid-Atlantic coast where there's so little perspective and appreciation of the water's depth.
Anyone swimming with the large breakers farther out would soon drown from exhaustion and confusion (if not a broken neck or broken back.)
The near-shore surf is also deadly. It's usually deeper than appears on a camera (especially right at the edge of the beach where the sand gets removed by the turbulence) and the undertow would make it extremely difficult to exit the water. Side currents, backwash and undertow would soon exhaust the average swimmer. One can easily drown a mere 20 feet from sand's edge (been there and came incredibly close to doing so - with seas less violent than shown on the video.)
