sorry Holly, I don't have any stats on it, but I did find this SciGuy blog about hurricanes/gulf snow events  http://blogs.chron.com/sciguy/archives/2008/12/hurricanes_and_2.html   and he references a meteorologist's suggestion about a possible link  http://weatherblog.abc13.com/2008/12/hurricanes-and.html

Heller seems to suggest it's the opposite, bad winters following hurricanes - these two often bump heads - so I guess if the scientist & the meteorologist can't agree on it... it's kinda like six of one & half dozen of the other ?
