STORM SUMMARY NUMBER 08 FOR EASTERN U.S. WINTER STORM NWS HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL PREDICTION CENTER CAMP SPRINGS MD 1000 PM EST WED FEB 02 2011 ...HEAVY SNOW WINDING DOWN ACROSS THE NORTHEAST AS THE WINTER STORM MOVES OFFSHORE... WINTER STORM WARNINGS AND WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT FROM WESTERN NEW YORK TO NORTHERN VERMONT...AS WELL AS NORTHERN MAINE AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. FOR A DETAILED GRAPHICAL DEPICTION OF THE LATEST WATCHES...WARNINGS AND ADVISORIES...PLEASE SEE WWW.WEATHER.GOV
AT 900 PM EST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADARS AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATED A 1000 MB...29.53 INCHES...SURFACE LOW LOCATED OFF THE NEW ENGLAND COAST. A PATCHY AREA OF MOSTLY LIGHT SNOW WAS FALLING NORTH AND WEST OF THE SURFACE LOW...ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY AND NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE LOWER GREAT LAKES...NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC STATES...AND NEW ENGLAND. BEHIND THE STORM...TEMPERATURES IN THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS WITH STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WERE REPORTED ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY.
