Japan showing signs of more obstructive plate pressure

March 14, 2011 - TOKYO

The spectral pattern of aftershock intensity now suggests the plates are experiencing more obstructive pressures and the chances of another mega-thrust earthquake striking along this region are therefore increasing as tension mounts.

A quake of the 7.0 range will be inadequate to equilibrate the pressure building from the dragging plate so we could see something in the magnitude higher.
