can be more detrimental than a perceived threat of radiation, was just talking with my endocrinologist about this yesterday.  http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/35.html

additionally, the potassium can be detrimental to kidney function  http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/Kudiseases/pubs/yourkidneys/

I would be very leery of taking high doses of iodine/iodide & would not advocate taking anything based on media reports or weather forums without discussing the benefits/risks with my dr

more dangerous to post bad medical advice than politics, imo
