Nah, the old gal is just pulling in some drier air and a bit of shear right now. This has been cooked into the long-range strength analysis for several days.

The interesting part of the 8/3/11 0800 update was this statement:

IT SHOULD BE NOTED HOWEVER THAT THERE IS SUBSTANTIAL SPREAD IN THE MODELS AROUND DAY 3 AND BEYOND...SO THERE IS STILL SIGNIFICANT UNCERTAINTY IN THE
TRACK FORECAST FOR THAT TIME FRAME.

Substantial spread in the 3-day? I'm not sure that is a good thing.

We are working our 1st real storm of the 2011 season so we are all just getting back into the swing of things. For me, I am taking little for granted until I see just how accurate the NHC was w/ dear Ms. Em.

How well they do will go a long way in determining how I apply their forecasting to the rest of the season.
