Well, if I remember correctly, Chris ran into an upper level low from the west that basically acted as a stop sign for the convection, and the circulation center just ran away from it. It was like the Andrea Gale heading into the middle of the bomb.
Emily seems to be getting its shear from the south. I'm actually shocked it's surviving this whippin' it's getting. But the shear isn't like Chris' where it's tearing the storms away from the center. They've separated somewhat today, but not enough to cripple the system.
The storms with Chris just stopped completely while the center kept going. Here, the storms seem to be moving west along with the circulation, even though the center's away from the convection. |
