Unfortunately, droughts REPEL hurricanes because they're indicative of intractable ridges that won't allow a storm into the picture. Which is why I am overjoyed to see a model bring a storm into TX because it suggests the ridge may either erode or shift east or west to become someone else's problem.
Local forecasts (DFW area) do suggest that the ridge will shift westward and weaken a bit in the coming week, which would open the door for something to come off the Gulf. But it's an early, preliminary run that only fools would take stock in. Let's see how it looks five days from now. |
