Tapesit, thanks for the story and your good wishes. What a stressful mess that must've been for all concerned!
Son and fiancee' fortunately for them are in upstate NY. It's only the mother and stepfather of the groom coming from Florida, so the wedding will go on regardless, I'm sure.
Aside from any imminent threat prior to departure, we had already long decided we needed to move our second vehicle off the island (to somewhere we haven't settled on) and completely button up the house in case something arose in our absence, especially as we're not flyers so couldn't get back here fast. How far we will go -- whether to empty out the fridge ($$$), tote all valuables and files off the island, etc., etc., is yet to be determined, but wisdom says do it all, no matter how onerous. UGH. Just like an evacuation, when I need to be thinking about what to pack for the trip.
If this storm actually materializes and does serious damage ahead of time, I just don't know -- and can hardly think about it. Hubby doesn't even have his wedding clothes yet, and I haven't been able to light a fire under him. Hazards of retirement mode! But that's another story. |
