Irene's in for a very rocky ride

I know we're talking about a potential dangerous storm down the road, but she's about to go through the roughest ride in the Caribbean. I posted Hurricane Georges track because that also had to go through the gauntlet, but she went through it as a much stronger storm and was able to stay intact.
To my eye, it appears as if she's straightened out a bit the last few hours and is taking dead aim for the middle of Hispanola. We also will have to see what kind of storm emerges after she gets back out over water, and where the center may be.....because these mountains may rip apart the center and it could reform.
I remember Georges went into Hispanola with its eyes set on the very Eastern Gulf and came out of Hispanola with its eyes set on Louisiana. Models may be in agreement with a Florida landfall, but I'm going to venture to guess they're going to change some, especially after this gets off of land Wednesday. |
