Here are the results of an impromptu survey I did at the Buick dealer in Summerville and Geralds Tires in Charleston. Survey size 22. Mixed age / gender / race ages ranged from approx. 20 to 60
1. Do you know about Irene: 99% Who is Irene? One guy is a hurricane nut like us and it totally up on the system.
2. Are you prepared for tropical weather: 75% No / 25% I get stuff if one is coming here.
3. Now that you know about Irene & the potential risk to Charleston, what will you do? 75% Nothing / 25% Evac if I have to.
Hurricane complacency is at record levels so if Charleston gets a Major it will be a zoo! Don't know why I am surprised. The normalcy bias is strong. If my head is in the sand, nothing bad will happen.....yea right!
