Things to remember while preparing

Hello all, hoping the best for all in the way of Irene. I remember a while back a thread was started where peeps gave advise on things to remember when preparing for a hurricane and many seemed to really get good advise from it. I myself have never been in a hurricane so I can not contribute but thought since this is going to a place that is not use to having canes that it might be helpful for others to do that again...anyone have advise for others ???
