.NEW INFORMATION... SEVERAL OCEAN RESCUES HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED AT AREA BEACHES TODAY DUE TO DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS.
.AREAS AFFECTED... THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS FOR PEOPLE AND MARINE INTERESTS IN SELECT LOCATIONS AND COASTAL WATER LEGS OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA AND ATLANTIC WATERS.
.WATCHES/WARNINGS... A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...ALL OF VOLUSIA COUNTY.
FOR MARINE INTERESTS...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ATLANTIC WATERS NORTH OF THE VOLUSIA-BREVARD COUNTY LINE.
ALTHOUGH TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCHES OR WARNINGS ARE NOT IN EFFECT FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...LAKE...ORANGE...SEMINOLE...AND NORTHERN BREVARD...GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN ARE STILL POSSIBLE.
.STORM INFORMATION... AT 11 AM EDT...THE CENTER OF SUBTROPICAL STORM BERYL WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 31.6N...LONGITUDE 76.3W. THIS WAS ABOUT 330 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF DAYTONA BEACH FL...OR ABOUT 330 MILES NORTHEAST OF CAPE CANAVERAL FL. BERYL HAS COMPLETED ITS NORTHERN LOOP AND IS NOW MOVING TO THE SOUTHWEST AT 9 MPH TOWARDS THE NORTH FLORIDA COAST. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN NEAR 45 MPH...AND SOME SLIGHT STRENGTHENING IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE WAS 1001 MB OR 29.56 INCHES.
.SITUATION OVERVIEW... THE MAIN IMPACTS FROM BERYL ARE EXPECTED TO BE GUSTY WINDS...LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND ROUGH SURF ACROSS NORTHERN PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY. BOATING CONDITIONS WILL RAPIDLY DETERIORATE STARTING LATE TONIGHT AS LARGER SWELL FROM BERYL MOVES INTO THE WATERS. THE LEADING EDGE OF THIS SWELL IS ALREADY LEADING TO DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS AT LOCAL BEACHES...WITH SEVERAL RESCUES OCCURRING THIS MORNING. IF HEADING OUT TO LOCAL BEACHES TODAY...CHECK WITH THE BEACH PATROL ABOUT LOCAL CONDITIONS AND ONLY ENTER THE SURF WITHIN SIGHT OF A LIFEGUARD.
THE OUTER RAIN BANDS FROM THE STORMS MAY BEGIN AFFECTING THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS NORTH OF CAPE CANAVERAL AS EARLY AS LATE SUNDAY MORNING. OCCASIONAL RAIN SQUALLS PRODUCING GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN ACROSS VOLUSIA COUNTY AND AREAS NORTH OF THE ORLANDO METRO BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH ACTIVITY INCREASING IN FREQUENCY THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS INTO MONDAY MORNING. ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITHIN SQUALLS...ESPECIALLY WITH DAYTIME HEATING ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
