I can't imagine getting as much rain as the panhandle. Even here that inability for water to drain off due to the level of the tide was something I didn't expect. I thought the water level would even out faster than it did but it took hours for it to drain off, and I think that was mostly because of the tide going down, otherwise it might have taken many more hours to drain off. The wind coming up the bay and the slow movement really piled the water in. It doesn't take much of a storm. Frances in 2004 did it and it came from the other side of the state.
Hopefully you were able to avoid the moving during the rain. Even for Tampa, this has been a very, very wet month. 2.60 inches in May. 18.63 inches in June so far. At least it cooled things off for a bit. I look at the heat around the rest of the country and I'm happy to be where I am. Looks like we will be back to some normal summertime weather this week. |
