everything I've read/seen lately points to no tropical formation any time soon for the atlantic... but you just have to keep watching when you're a weather junkie...

from latest nhc discussion: A WEAK SURFACE TROUGH WILL MOVE W ACROSS THE REST OF THE CENTRAL GULF THROUGH TONIGHT THEN MOVE ACROSS THE NW GULF MON AND MON NIGHT WHILE DISSIPATING. SURFACE RIDGE NE OF THE AREA WILL SLIDE S TO ALONG 27N DURING THE UPCOMING WEEK.

this is the feature that hgx mentions bringing more tropical moisture to the area this week
The upper level trough that has been over the region for the last few days will slowly shift west through Wednesday. As a result Southeast Texas will still be getting scattered showers and thunderstorms beginning in the early morning hours and continuing through the early evening hours. Brief heavy downpours will be possible each day with isolated rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches though most areas will receive amounts less than 1 inch. A plume of tropical moisture over the Central Gulf should move west into the region on Tuesday and could lead to heavier rain. |
