It is not chickening out, it's the smart thing to do. I had just never seen my street so flooded so I want to get video of it too and stayed out, crouched down, when the storm moved a bit further away. Debby gave us the worst fresh water flooding I had seen, but this actually topped it in the street because it fell even faster than Debby did. Debby had about 2 inches in an hour and this was about 2.75 inches. Debby then dumped a lot more, but it had time to run off. It did flood a neighbor's house again though after he had already had someone out for Debby. He's going to look into some other drainage options than the pump he has. Another neighbor used to have the same problem until she installed a large drain from her backyard to the street.
Of course I have my own small problem, a roof leak. The roofers came out Friday to fix it and did everything but the tile. My dad said he hoped we would get a good test of it. Well, we did. It failed, miserably. They actually made it worse. They'll be out Monday morning to fix it, hopefully for real this time. Of course it will probably rain, so might have to continue to watch the leak. We do have pans catching the water in the attic again, now in 3 places. |
