Ernesto and the Ridge

The NHC says now that they some (but only very little) credence to a weakness in the ridge, north of Ernesto, which would allow Ernesto to move NW into the GOMEX. Could the current slowing be part of that ridge's weaker side.
I am not sure.
I think what few people want to see around here or anywhere from Texas to the FL panhandle is a major hurricane heading toward the northern gulf coast.
I am not sleeping on any storm that could shoot the Yucatan gap and heads NW or northward.
