Cuban geography question

So I know how Hispaniola can really wreck a storm circulation because of its mountains and I believe the same is true but to a far lesser degree for Puerto Rico but, what about Cuba?
My impression has always been that Cuba was relatively flat and would only disrupt a storm the same way Florida would by cutting it off from warm water and cause it to weaken. The exception being South Florida to some extent with storms such as Wilma, Fay, Andrew, and Katrina not getting knocked down much mostly due to the warm water in the Everglades.
So, what effect does Cuba have? Is it a speed bump or a storm reducer? |
