The hospitals use a "Level system" according to how many hours out before we would start to feel the effects of the storm to determine what needs to be accomplished during that period of time. During a Level 1, they evaluate and prepare department-specific plans, ie: staffing needs, supplies, surgical scheduling, consider moving patients to other facilities, etc.
I live in Port Charlotte...so I get to prepare on two different fronts! One would think that Arcadia, being inland, would be protected. However, we learned all too well with Charley that wasn't the case. |
