AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC 740 PM EDT FRI AUG 24 2012
.SYNOPSIS... COASTAL LOW PRESSURE WILL SLOWLY LIFT NORTHEASTWARD THIS EVENING WITH WEAK HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH THE WEEKEND. TROPICAL STORM ISAAC WILL MOVE TOWARD THE FLORIDA PENINSULA EARLY NEXT WEEK. MUCH OF THE FORECAST FOR NEXT WEEK WILL BE HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON THE TRACK AND STRENGTH OF THE TROPICAL SYSTEM.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY MORNING/... THE UPPER TROUGH WILL LINGER OVER THE AREA OVERNIGHT. THE SURFACE TROUGH WILL REMAIN OFFSHORE WITH WEAK HIGH PRESSURE RIDGING INTO THE FORECAST AREA FROM THE NORTH. EXPECT MOSTLY CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES OVERNIGHT. WENT CLOSE TO THE MOS CONSENSUS WITH LOWS IN THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 60S.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY/... DRY WEATHER EXPECTED FOR THE WEEKEND. THE WEAK UPPER LOW LINGERS OVER THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION. SOME TROUGHINESS REMAINS OVER SOUTH CAROLINA AND GEORGIA WITH NVA OVER OUR AREA. THE AIR MASS IS FORECAST TO BE CAPPED AND PRECIPITABLE WATER LESS THAN 1.50 INCHES. MOS GUIDANCE KEEPS POPS 10 PERCENT OR LESS. AFTERNOON HIGHS SHOULD WARM TO THE MID 80S TO AROUND 90 UNDER MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES BOTH DAYS. LOWS SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE MID 60S.
