Crews will travel to Louisiana to help Entergy restore power after devastating storm TAMPA, August 30, 2012
Tampa Electric is sending about 90 people to Louisiana to help Entergy restore power after Hurricane Isaac. About 40 linemen and 50 support personnel will leave at dawn Friday for the two-day drive. They are prepared to stay for two weeks.
Hurricane Isaac came ashore Tuesday night, and the storm's high winds and slow trek caused extensive power outages along the Gulf Coast. More than 770,000 Entergy customers remain without electricity in Louisiana.
Tampa Electric is a member of the Southeastern Electric Exchange, or SEE, which is a network of utilities who pledge mutual assistance in case of storm or other emergency. Crews supporting the restoration efforts of other utilities are paid by the host utility.
