It was a dark and stormy night ... (heh, heh)
Always wanted to use that for an opening. Sanba is two-stepping toward her grand finale, less than 100 miles from Okinawa now. I'm keeping tabs on windfinders across the island - which still aren't reporting anything more severe than about 25 knots sustained, but we've still got all night to go. Imagery is showing Sanba has held herself together through the long dance toward our fair island, so we can expect some pretty substantial breezes after midnight tonight and on into the morning.
I know the betting on 1C continues - try not to get too wrapped up in it; you should already be hunkered down anyway. "Caution" should just mean the storm is progressing on schedule, and won't happen until we reach 35 knots SUSTAINED winds (meaning that over a full one minute period the wind NEVER drops below that speed). For those of you speculating we might not get there - we should BE so lucky. I'll say it again: Wrath of God weather - bad.
IF we progress through 1C and 1E (Emergency) tonight (probably will) - STAY INSIDE! This is not the time to disrespect the Sanba. Let your architecturally fascinating poured concrete, rebar and cinderblock igloo deflect the worst of the wind. :)
Stay tuned, stay safe! Stormy
