Seems that way.... looks like baroclinic energy is allready supporting the system.
It should be noted that the current intensity is lower than was previously projected for this stage in the game. The question is how will the models do with intensity as we move foward with time. history tells us that typically models over estimate central low pressures with TC's, however this is allready not classically TC. Frontal boundaries are appearing and extreme ET signatures are evident on visible and WV.
it's the projected SIZE of this storm that has my mouth drop. Irene was overestimated in SLP as well, however for this storm I'm more concerned about track and size. This thing grows as big if not bigger than Ike was. Luckily it's not purely TC but that begs the question...
what happens when a super powerful warm core hybrid ET/TC system moves up the east coast and is advected due west right into the MidAtl/NE???
Several PHD students will be analyzing this system in years to come, that's for SURE!
Uncharted territory. Best way to describe this situation. |
