I hope you didn't take me too seriously. I was half kidding. :) About your question, I'm not a meteorologist or Hydrologist, so I really can't answer the question. However, what I do know is the coastal flooding levels being forecasted are major. So, while the surge may happen quicker in a cat 2 or 3 hurricane... if the end result is a certain flood level... what's the difference? If your going to flood anyway... what's the difference is the onset is quick or delayed? I would say if you are in one of those areas, use your own judgement. I think politics may have come into play a bit, because when Irene hit, it wasn't as bad as expeted in NYC, so people accused the actions as being overdone. This time, the opposite may happen. Where.. not even action was taken and a worse result ensues. Stay safe. |
