Update on Insurance in FL

Hey Chris & other FL insured: I got my answer back from my agent--located on Ft. Myers Beach, and it was not what I expected! She said: Citizens are doing some "options of take out". It is a lottery system by zip code so it is hit and miss. It has to do with value, zip code, year of construction etc.
If your policy gets picked in the lottery, you will get a letter advising that a date in the future--for instance, right now they did 11/6 and are now doing 12/14. There should be a pick of policies once a month. About 2-3% of my policy holders are getting picked. Most of the ones picked have been thru the re-inspection process by Citizens, lost their credits, and are paying the highest premiums--like me (agent) personally. At $8200...so I have been picked. I am going with it-- I feel it can only be better than Citizens!
If you are picked you would receive letters from both Citizens and the new carrier if your number is picked. If you wish to go along with the change, you have to do nothing--it is internal and automatic.
So that's what I found out. FYI
