| Forgive me if I have have posted this comment before at canetalk . The 6 & 7 day forecast idea is not surprising to me at all as the computer forecasting has improved quite a bit from even a few years ago. I remember in 2005 at the national hurricane conference in N.O I attended the forecasting workshop where Max Mayfield was taking questions and I asked one simple question. Since we are getting better at long range forecast's why not produce a 7 or 10 day cone of error in which the room erupted in laughter (which I didn't think was funny) turns out not to be a stupid question was it? Why not push the envelope it produces a better 5 day cone? I emailed Bryan Norcross a couple of days after that & even he did not think it was a stupid question. I like some of the guys at NHC & NOAA but I think that there are many that are stuck up & arrogant including some in the private sector that don't think outside the box (cone) for that matter.. |
